Housing Opportunities at Bristol Works!
Imagine, as many of the current neighbors of the Bristol Works! campus already know, that one can live in a quiet and safe neighborhood just a block or two from Main Street and its vibrant downtown. Or consider that just two blocks away is the local high school and an expansive public recreation park that features a “4H” horse riding ring, a full-sized baseball field with bleachers and concession stand, a covered hockey rink, a skate board park, soccer fields and more.
Given the core village location of Bristol Works!, we envision a return to the historical patterns for the site and its relationship to the surrounding neighborhood. From the late 1800’s until just a year or so ago, there have been a variety of manufacturing enterprises that provided jobs to a considerable number of local residents. In fact, many of the homes surrounding the campus were originally built to house the workers.
Right now, the Bristol Works! team is working hard to recruit quality manufacturing employers to the campus, as well as making an investment in the development of a health and wellness “destination” center on site. From this foundation, in some of the open spaces on the campus, we hope to create a limited number of compact, highly efficient, bungalow style housing options that will appeal to people of varying ages and a mix of incomes.
When we have a better understanding of our allowed housing density, required setbacks, septic capacity, access, etc, we will begin the design process for the housing units and their location on the site. When we have initial designs and floor plans later this year, we will share this info on our Bristol Works! site.
